Reliable connections
Connectors are one way to interface between components, devices and systems. They provide a low-resistance electrical connection and in contrast to hardwired interfaces, are designed to be frequently disconnected and reconnected. And this is precisely what makes connectors risk-prone. Connectors must not only tie circuits together, they must also electrically isolate wires from one another - even at high voltage levels.
Schaltbau's connectors are designed to be used under difficult conditions, particularly when lives are at stake and valuable assets depend on reliable technology. They are applied in mining, the marine and mechanical equipment industries, as well as the environmental and food and beverage sectors. Our connectors are robust and are resistant to a wide range of stresses.
Mechanical stress
Fiberglass-reinforced Polyamide or metal housings protect the connectors from mechanical forces or shocks. Our railway system connectors are droptested.
The connectors have a long mechanical design life. For example, the NF series connectors are designed for a minimum of 5,000 mating cycles. The contacts are machined from solid stock and the shock- and vibration-resistant spring-loaded contact system ensures reliable connections. Most of the connectors are keyed to help prevent mismating.
Bayonet, screw-together and other locking mechanisms secure the connectors. Of course, all our connectors can be supplied with strain-relief provisions.
Extreme temperature
Our connectors manufactured to industry standards are designed for temperatures between -25 and + 100 °C. The NF series is suitable for temperatures as low as -55 °C.
The plastics we use are highly flame retardant.
Humidity, chemical environments
Our modular connectors have an IP67 degree of protection and are therefore shielded against dust and powerful water jets. These industrial connectors are resistant to acids, alkalis and related aggressive vapors. It goes without saying that our charging connectors are resistant to battery acid.
The solid contacts are silver- or gold-plated, providing maximum corrosion protection.
Electromagnetic interference
The NF10 series and the shielded NF07 versions provide good attenuation when it comes to electromagnetic interference, radio frequency effects and pulse frequencies. This enables reliable information transmission, even at low signal levels.
