Electromechanical engineering for materials handling vehicles
LV Series
LV Series charging connectors are especially designed to meet the demands of modern materials handling vehicles. They even exceed the requirements of standard EN 1175-1 in many of their features.
There is an option for chargers with electrolyte circulation system. An air blow-in system patented by Schaltbau ensures an optimised charging of the batteries. Like all LV Series connectors, also this option is intermateable with all standard commercial charging connectors.
Features by which LV Series connectors meet or exceed the requirements of EN 1175-1:
- reliable interlocking resistant to shock and vibration
- all parts of housing resistant to sulphuric acid of high concentration (required 43% of standard exceeded by LV Series with 57%)
- option for chargers with electrolyte circulation system intermateable with all other standard commercial charging connectors
The LV Series is UL listed. The ventilation slots in the shells allow for easy heat dissipation. The housing material is highly resistant to all thermal, mechanical and electrical stresses:
- upper limit of operating temperature TI = 110°C (170°C temporarily)
- flammability rating: UL94-V0 (self-extinguishing)
- creepage current resistance: CTI >600
- increased impact strength
The newly developed socket contacts contain elongated metal strips twisted into a hyperbolic shape. This stamped grid and cylinder brings about a surface enlargement of the contact area which is the cause of lower contact resistance and less temperature rise of the contacts. And this, in turn, results in the higher current-carrying capacity of these contacts.
This new contact system based on hyperbolic grid configuration has already proved of value in the automotive industry. Its main benefits on a glance:
- enlarged surface of the contact area
- constantly high contact forces
- long service life with virtually no wear and tear (20,000 mating cycles)
- rugged design resistant to the stresses of temperature, shock and vibration
- contact design prevents stamped grid from getting damaged during transport or wiring of the connector
- low contact resistance resulting in less temperature rise of the contacts
- increased current-carrying capacity
- price/performance ratio in line with the market due to high level of automation in manufacturing
- Specifications and Configuring Tool
