The Management´s Declaration of Environmental Protection

Schaltbau GmbH is a leading supplier of electromechanical components and systems in the field of transportation and other industrial applications.

The company has three locations:

Munich headquarters: Management, R & D, sales and administration
Factory at Aldersbach: Piece part production
Factory at Velden: Assembly and logistics.

In order to ensure the long term existence of the company, the minimisation of adverse effects of products and production methods on the natural environment is increasingly of crucial importance. As well as this, the company is aware of its responsibility to society to preserve the natural environment.

An important aim of the company is therefore, first of all, to make all employees at all levels of our organisation conscious of the environment. The long term target is the motivation of all employees towards active and committed environmental protection throughout the company. Environmental protection within the company itself is understood by the management to be a permanent learning process, demands are made on the whole of the workforce. Each target will be moderate and realistic and will agree with the other aims of the company, thus the process will lead to long term success.

The following broad outlines for the environment are an expression of our environmentally orientated company policies which are binding on every employee of Schaltbau GmbH and with this our principles for action within the day to day working of the company.

Assessment of our effects on the environment:

As every activity of the company has effects on the environment, we are trying to assess these effects, reduce them and to avoid them through suitable measures.

Keeping to existing standards and creating our own:

Adhering to legal principles goes without saying. Apart from this we will install technology that is ecologically harmless, in order not to pollute natural resources unnecessarily.

Carrying out open discussion:

In open communication with the public, the authorities, customers and suppliers, we will have a good, active look at the standards of our business surroundings.

Continual further development as a joint task:

In order to guarantee continual improvement in environmental protection, we will make regular checks on whether we are achieving the targets we have set ourselves.

Schaltbau GmbH's system of organisational and technical measures for environmental management are described in a Quality and Environmental Management Handbook, according to the ISO 14001 standards, and will be a fixed obligation from the management for all sections and departments. Additional or secondary standards to ISO 14001 shall be incorporated into this handbook to keep it adjusted accordingly. The responsibility for carrying this out always lies with the management of the mentioned section or department.

The management has given the responsibility of the structuring and the maintenance of this system to the management representative of environmental management. He will control and assess its effectiveness by means of regular internal audits.

The management representative of environmental management has independence as far as organisation is concerned, in order to be able to fulfil this task. He will report directly to the management within the scope of his activities, about all important questions of environmental management and protection, and, if necessary, submit any decisions in this context.
