Snap-action switches for safety applications

In 1977, Schaltbau invented the snap-action switch with the double interruption feature: a product that has made the Schaltbau brand well known throughout the world.

Built flat and compact, the snap-action switches are laterally mounted. The transparent green housing enables the condition of the contacts to be checked at any time. Those are the outer hallmarks of the switch, but the technical functions which make the Schaltbau original different from its imitators are no less striking. The snap-action switches perform both quickly and safely, even when subjected to extreme temperatures, shock and vibrations. The contacts clean themselves automatically, which means that the contact resistances remain low throughout the long working life of the switch. And, if a short circuit in the system leads to welding of the contacts, they can still be opened reliably thanks to the positive opening operation.

The low fail rate of Schaltbau snap-action switches makes them sought-after components for safety applications. The S850 double break contact complies with the high safety standards required for safety-related machine control operations at low cost.
