Another milestone in quality management has been reached:

In September 2008 Schaltbau GmbH was audited according to the quality standard IRIS (International Railway Industry Standard) with a very positive result by the Bureau Veritas Certification. IRIS is a globally recognized standard unique to the railway sector for the evaluation of suppliers and their management systems with regard to rail vehicle engineering. IRIS is based on DIN EN ISO 9001:9002, with railway-specific requirements added.

Rail transport has been greatly liberalised in recent years. IRIS is the response to the demands of railway operators and manufacturers for systematic quality assurance and monitoring. Since 2009, manufacturers of rolling stock have therefore stipulated that their A-suppliers must be certified according to IRIS.

Our facilities at Velden and Aldersbach were evaluated in 2011 again with more than 75% (Rev. 02). This is a very good result for a recertification. The fact that all employees identified with Schaltbau as their employer was judged very favourably. The strategy process based on the many management ratios that were introduced as well as the resulting continuous improvement process were particularly stressed.
